A Tasting of Wines from DO Alicante, A VÍ Vid report.

VÍ  Vid were very pleased to be able to attend the Salon Profesiónal in Denia this week and taste the new crop of wines from DO Alicante. The tasting was held in the Cdt of the Marina Alta. 18 Bodegas attended and this is a selection of the wines which impressed us. VÍ vid visits Bodegas BOCOPA.

Bocopa, the Petrer based bodega, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. 1987 was the year that saw several small bodegas in DO Alicante pool their resources to improve their marketing prospects and production techniques and volumes. The new bodega brought together some 8000 hectares of vines, mostly in the Vinalopó and  La Marina Alta together with 1800 vineyard owners. A Busy Start to October for VÍ vid.

The summer holidays seem but a distant memory and VÍ vid have started October at a fast pace. September had finished with our course reported in our last blog. Valencia is currently halfway through the 3rd Jornadas Gastronómicas de Arroces Marineros, a now well established fortnight where restaurants from the Association of Restaurants by  the Las Arenas beach   show their best traditional and modern seafood rice dishes, accompanied by wines from the Valencian Region and using DO Valencia rice varieties. 18 []
