A Busy Start to October for VÍ vid.

The summer holidays seem but a distant memory and VÍ vid have started October at a fast pace. September had finished with our course reported in our last blog. Valencia is currently halfway through the 3rd Jornadas Gastronómicas de Arroces Marineros, a now well established fortnight where restaurants from the Association of Restaurants by  the Las Arenas beach   show their best traditional and modern seafood rice dishes, accompanied by wines from the Valencian Region and using DO Valencia rice varieties. 18 []

July is traditionally the time when we take the opportunity to increase our knowledge of the background to  the vineyards and the wines of the Valencian Region. It is one of the times of the year when courses and seminars take over from events. Behind every good vineyard are the vines which fill them. Where do they come from? VÍ vid´s visit to Les Useres, Poble de Ví.

The hilltop village of Les Useres in the Alcalaten county  of Castellon province calls itself the `Poble de Vi.´ With it’s just over 1000 inhabitants it has some seven bodegas.  Clos d´Esgarracordes, Flors and  El Mollet-Roques Negres, are three of which we have been following very closely for some  years. Over the weekend the town held its 4th annual fair, based around all the bodegas but including the local bakers, butchers, cheese makers and other artisans. Our visit this year coincided with []
