Celebrating a New Chapter in Wine Excellence
The world of wine welcomed a distinguished new player with the inauguration of Bodegas Novos. This event marked the dawn of a fresh era for wine connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike. Nestled in the heart of CRDO Utiel-Requena, specifically in the village of La Portera, Bodegas Novos promises to bring new life, innovation, and tradition to the region’s storied heritage.

The modern bodega is situated on a hillside near the village cooperative, at the beginning of a road that leads down a valley through Hortunas, Yátova and eventually to Macastre and Buñol.
The inauguration ceremony, held on a crisp and sunny morning, drew a vibrant crowd of guests, including local community members, renowned sommeliers, industry professionals, and media representatives. The air buzzed with excitement as attendees gathered to witness the official opening of this modern winery.
Bodegas Novos stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of modern winemaking technology and age-old viticultural practices. The new facility boasts state-of-the-art equipment, sustainable production processes, and a modern architectural design.
Guests enjoyed a guided tour of the bodega’s installations, gaining insight into the meticulous craftsmanship that defines every bottle produced here.
The bodega is the project of the Ramos family, involved in the wine-making traditions of the area, having been amongst the founder members of Torre Oria. They hold vineyards with centenarian vines, including older varieties such as Moravia and Royale.
The highlight of the inauguration was a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the founders of Bodegas Novos, hosted by owner Germán and his family, accompanied by heartfelt speeches reflecting their commitment to quality and community. Attendees were treated to tastings of the winery’s debut vintages, which impressed with their vibrant flavours and elegant profiles.

The Bodega’s five current wines are ‘Royal de Novos’ white (Xarel-Lo and Chardonnay) ‘Royal de Novos ‘ Rosado (Bobal and Royal), and three reds, ‘Jaraiz’, ‘Labor de Sol’ and ‘Tinto de Luna’ (all pure Bobal and with varying lengths of ageing). The bodega produces a limited number of bottles of each using only the best 15% of their harvest. The style is very much in line with modern market requirements.

With the successful inauguration of Bodegas Novos, the stage is set for a bright future. Wine lovers can look forward to upcoming releases, visits, and the ongoing story of a winery that aspires to set new standards in both quality and hospitality. As Bodegas Novos opens its doors, it invites everyone to join in celebrating the fine art of winemaking—where tradition and innovation come together in every glass.
Jorge Capilla, the bodega’s Commercial Director, outlined the different levels of enotourism where visitors to the bodega can enjoy several alternative levels of tours, tastings with ‘picoteos’. The bodega can also be made available for private events, and details are on their website https.//novos.es
Our thanks go to Germán and his family for the warm welcome and our best wishes for a successful future!
